About Mainspring

Founded in 1941, Mainspring Schools is an NAEYC-accredited nonprofit preschool that serves at-risk children in Austin. We are passionate about serving families that might not otherwise be able to afford high-quality early childhood care.

In addition to providing high-quality educational, social, and emotional guidance for our kids, we have an onsite kitchen that delivers a healthy food program and dedicated staff who provide families with counseling and support services. Our comprehensive, two-generation approach to supporting children and caretakers is designed to help families break out of the cycle of poverty.

We care about our community and take care of the people within it—including our staff. We welcome people who believe in the mission, the model, and our philosophy of education. We encourage folks who want to feel challenged and fulfilled by their job to apply.

We are proud to say that every member of the team is paid at least Austin’s living wage of $15 per hour, well above the average pay in early childhood education.

We hope you’ll join us!

Mainspring Schools is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
